Making a Claim
- Take immediate action to safeguard and protect your property from further damage / deterioration
- Make the boat safe and secure
- Take photographs and/or a video of the damage
- email (claims@craftinsure.ie) of the actions you have taken to mitigate your loss as soon as possible
- As a general principle act as if you were not insured, if you make decisions based on it being your money at risk you will not go wrong.
How to Claim
- How to claim - Select Make a Claim above
- Enter your email address and password when prompted
- Select the applicable policy
- Click 'Make a Claim'
- Fill in the claim form and click ‘submit’
- Your claim number will appear on the screen once your claim form has been submitted successfully
- Follow any instructions in the acknowledgement email
- Email or upload any photographs / video of the damage

Own Damage
- Take immediate action to safeguard and protect property from further damage and deterioration
- Make the boat safe and secure
- Enlist help (professional if necessary) if immediately required to safeguard / protect craft / equipment
- Agree a realistic / reasonable charge or fee if recovery or a tow is required before acceptance
- Take photographs and/or a video of the damage
- Retain and look after all broken / torn / damaged items for inspection
- Quotations / estimates may be obtained straight away but do not proceed with the repair(s) / replacements until the claim form has been submitted and the claim has been approved by us
- Your claim number is emailed to you automatically, straight after submitting your claim
- Please send photographs of any damage and quotations / estimates to claims@craftinsure.ie or upload them via the Craftinsure App, quoting your claim number, name and policy number
- We may require more than one quotation / estimate
- We may appoint a surveyor to inspect the damage and investigate the cause
Theft/Vandalism
- Make the boat safe and secure
- Any theft of malicious damage must be reported to the Gardaí promptly
- Make your boat / property as secure / safe as reasonably possible
- Take immediate action to safeguard and protect property from further damage and deterioration
- Keep a note of the Gardaí Pulse reference number and forward this onto us
- We will also need the serial number of any stolen engines, names of tenders etc.
- Notify your club, local harbourmaster etc. with full details of the theft/vandalism
- Take photographs and/or a video of the damage
- Quotations / estimates may be obtained straight away but do not proceed with the repair(s) / replacements until the claim form has been submitted and the claim has been approved by us

Damage done to your boat by someone else
- Obtain details of Third Party – Helm / boat owners name, email, boat type / class / number / name and their insurance details
- Obtain contact details of any witnesses and witness statements where possible
- If racing, protest the third party if they did not accept a penalty and add take a picture of the protest form
- Road Accidents - Obtain details of driver & insurer and any witnesses or call the Gardaí to the scene
- Jot down all details while fresh in mind and make a sketch of the area / incident location / boat positions
- Take photographs and/or a video of the damage
- Quotations / estimates may be obtained straight away but do not proceed with the repair(s) / replacements until the claim form has been submitted and the claim has been approved by us
- Your claim number is emailed to you automatically, straight after submitting your claim

Damage or injuries by your boat to someone else
- If a third party wishes to hold you liable for damage (alleged to be your fault) provide them with Craftinsure's details, your name, policy number, boat type/class and boat name/number
- Do not make any admission of liability
- Take photographs and/or video of the damage. Make your own notes of the incident as soon as safe to do so
During the claims process you have the right to appeal decisions made by us. Should you wish to do so, please contact your claims handler to discuss the matter further.
